Thank you for your interest in owning a wire-haired or smooth dachshund!
We always try to find the best possible home and environment for our dachshunds. Due to various reasons, not all applicants are a good fit, and some are not selected.
Puppies need time to nurse, grow, and develop with their mother and littermates before they can join their new families. A newborn puppy should stay with their breeder, mom, and siblings as they develop physically and gain new social skills. The age at which a puppy can go home depends on the breed and even the individual. We generally do not allow puppies to go to their new homes until after 12 weeks of age, and some may be older as we evaluate their structure.
